During this period, he also presented a solo show of pioneering Nigerian-born photographer <strong data-start=\"937\" data-end=\"959\">Rotimi Fani-Kayode<\/strong>, whose work challenged Western perceptions of Africa and the African diaspora through radical examinations of identity, sexuality, race, and religion.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1114\" data-end=\"2131\">Whittle went on to tour seminal figures in experimental film, video, and performance, including <strong data-start=\"1210\" data-end=\"1237\">Marina Abramovi\u0107 &amp; Ulay<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1239\" data-end=\"1255\">Vito Acconci<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1257\" data-end=\"1271\">Bill Viola<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"1277\" data-end=\"1290\">Gary Hill<\/strong>. This was followed by exhibitions featuring then-emerging artists popularly referred to as YBAs (Young British Artists) such as <strong data-start=\"1399\" data-end=\"1421\">Sam Taylor-Johnson<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1442\" data-end=\"1460\">Georgina Starr<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1462\" data-end=\"1480\">Douglas Gordon<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"1486\" data-end=\"1512\">Jane and Louise Wilson<\/strong>, alongside American contemporaries <strong data-start=\"1548\" data-end=\"1560\">Alex Bag<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1565\" data-end=\"1585\">Vanessa Beecroft<\/strong>. He subsequently worked on new commissions and major national touring exhibitions of artists\u2019 moving image, print, photography, and new media, including <strong data-start=\"1739\" data-end=\"1755\">Abigail Lane<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1757\" data-end=\"1774\">Michael Landy<\/strong>, Turner Prize winners <strong data-start=\"1797\" data-end=\"1816\">Gillian Wearing<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1818\" data-end=\"1833\">Mark Leckey<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1835\" data-end=\"1854\">Elizabeth Price<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"1860\" data-end=\"1878\">Laure Prouvost<\/strong>, as well as nominees <strong data-start=\"1900\" data-end=\"1916\">Isaac Julien<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1921\" data-end=\"1938\">Janice Kerbel<\/strong>, and Venice Biennale Golden Lion recipient <strong data-start=\"1982\" data-end=\"1997\">Sonia Boyce<\/strong>. He has also curated displays of work by <strong data-start=\"2039\" data-end=\"2056\">John Akomfrah<\/strong> and pioneering filmmaker, artist, writer, and activist <strong data-start=\"2112\" collaborations and symposia at <strong>Central Saint Martins<\/strong>, resulting in initiatives such as the <strong>Global Art Joint Project,<\/strong>\u00a0launched in 2015 by the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, in collaboration with leading global art institutions: <strong data-start=\"3669\" data-end=\"3723\">\u00c9cole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris<\/strong>; <strong data-start=\"3725\" data-end=\"3781\">Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London<\/strong>; and the <strong data-start=\"3791\" data-end=\"3833\">School of the Art Institute of Chicago<\/strong>.
