It Could Happen to You is a single-channel video work by Norwegian artist AK Dolven (b. 1953, Oslo), exploring vulnerability, uncertainty and the relationship between personal experience and universal human conditions. Working across video, sound, photography, sculpture and installation, Dolven creates restrained and immersive works that invite contemplation of nature, memory, time and identity.
The work uses minimal visual and aural means to evoke a heightened sense of vulnerability and unpredictability. Its title suggests that the situations and emotions presented are not confined to an individual experience, but could happen to anyone, drawing attention to the fragility and uncertainty of everyday life.
Dolven’s practice is characterised by a quiet, lyrical approach in which light, landscape, sound and the human body become vehicles for exploring complex emotional states. Bio
AK Dolven (b. 1953, Oslo) is a Norwegian contemporary artist whose interdisciplinary practice explores nature, memory, time, identity and the relationship between the individual and the surrounding environment. Working across video, sound, photography, sculpture and installation, she creates immersive works characterised by lyricism, restraint and close attention to atmosphere.
Dolven has exhibited internationally at major institutions and exhibitions, including Tate Modern in London, The Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Biennale di Venezia. Her practice also includes public art projects and large-scale installations, through which she continues to explore the relationships between landscape, perception and human experience.
